Brian Underwood—Brass Band

The Brass Band has gone through a few changes of personnel this year, welcoming back a former President in Craig, to the newly vacated Solo Horn chair after Tania emigrated back to Melbourne. Although we haven't been overly busy in 2009, we did have a rather hectic second half of 2008, so we have had chance to regroup. In my experience, all bands have highs and troughs and that is a fact of life, not that we have been necessarily going through either but it is important  to recognize that just as the WC Eagles, even with so many premiership players, are doing it tough, bands also go through similar times, which is entirely normal and has to be accepted. I hope that we, as a team, can move forward together in harmony without too many dischords (ha ha). May we all try to do the best we can. That is all I can ask!

The Concert Band this year has undergone an incredible change from last year. We’ve lost a few along the way, but we’ve certainly made up for them in numbers. The Concert Band is looking bigger and fuller than ever! Since stepping into the shoes of Bill Farrel last August, the band has been nothing but a joy to lead, and I’m quite confident when I say we’ve made a lot of progress in the last year. Things have been fairly quiet thus far in the year, but the second half of the year promises us many concerts to showcase our spectacular musical talent; keep an eye (or an ear) out!

Here’s hoping that the next year will be as great as the first. It’s been a pleasure to lead you guys, and I sincerely hope I’ll be able to say the same this time next year.
